Site upgrade update

Bah! What a trying 24 hrs it’s been!

First, in upgrading to WordPress 2.8.4, one of my plugins went into conflict and somehow crashed my site. I don’t know which one or how it happened, but couldn’t get it back online no matter what I tried. In the end, I had to do a fresh install.

Which led to another couple of hours of terror as I tried to figure out how to recover my posts. In the end, I learned more than I ever wanted to know about SQL databases.

As of now, the posts are back and I am steadily re-tagging and re-categorizing each one. It appears RSS is broken, and I tried to set up a new feed but it isn’t working yet either. I’ll get it back online soon, I’m sure.

I’m also testing carefully as I activate each plugin to make sure I can at least track down th offender should one of them crash the site. I should probably be more disciplined about pruning my plugins periodically, as there are some that are no longer of use due to improvements in the base WordPress platform.

Diet? Yeah, so far so good. I’ll post my starting weight once I get over the hump on the technical issues. Weigh-in was last Friday and I’ve been steadily reducing my food intake.
