Hundred Day Head Start Diet, fitness, exercise, and weight loss

Update

03.31.2008 · Posted in Personal Updates

Got back on the exercise path this past week. Besides all the walking at work, I also started walking in the evening. I found a nice pond with a 1/2 mile sidewalk circling it on some … ahem… ‘private’ property. There’s an industrial park near my hotel, so it’s pretty empty when I get there in the evening.

Oh well, all they’ll do is tell me to leave. Anything else would mean paperwork for someone. I count on the world’s laziness when making marginal decisions.

I picked up a lot of meat and not much in the way of carbs at the store this week. Probably 80% of the dollars were spent on protein. It remains to be seen if it goes into my body in the same proportion.

I’m moving to an apartment from my extended-stay hotel this week. So, I’ll have a fitness center. Hopefully I can be more consistent and get some kind of exercise on those evenings when the legs are too tired from work to go walking.

  • Do you get fruits and veggies to go with all that meat , and don`t forget your water remember balance is everything....
  • If your really lucky they might chase you away giving you a ten minuet high aerobic workout!
  • I think that it's best to just do a 45 minute to one hour routine a day. It works better than spitting them into smallers sessions. Hopefully the workout equipment will help you.
  • as above said. i do an hour daily and that works quite nicley.
  • i think you should work out on you body and work on a good nutrition - this is the key from any diet.
  • a well balanced diet should do the job. i personally like milk as the protein source of my diet. i dont like soy milk.
  • Pond is a nice place for evening walks, even if it is "Private" property (I don't think that just walking there is a crime)...
  • I think pond is good place for walk. But remember that be regular. Thanks

A well balanced diet is very important. And exercise is also necessary for good health but I personally hate doing exercises, I am a lazy kind of person!

I have been struggling with exercise myself recently. Luckily, the past few weeks I have done a good job of it, and when I do I feel a lot better
  • Good to know you are back on track...consistancy is the key
  • Don't leave the "good" fats behind...

  • My trick is vegetable juicing. It really fills me up the low-calorie way and it satisfies my sweet tooth. If one goes for a weight training program, workout time can be cut to about three 45 minute sessions a week. That really saves time and gives terrific results very quickly.
  • Hi,

I think that it’s best to just do a 45 minute to one hour routine a day. It works better than spitting them into smallers sessions. Hopefully the workout equipment will help you.
  • I was doing great until our elliptical machine broke a few weeks ago. I'll have to think of something quickly.

  • Thanks i must test it. I have at the moment 30 to much.
  • Uh oh. I gained four pounds since my last post. This is not good. I better read the rest of your blog and get some good ideas.
  • The way you have presented the topic is very absorbing.

Seems you have not been updating the website.

i need to start exercising, the cards and sugar have really taken a toll this winter along with a lack of exercise
  • So, if you're caught on the "private property" you may be able to burn a few more calories as the dogs pursue you, right? :-)
Is this blog gone? I haven't seen a post here since almost a year ago.
  • Since June 2008, I've lost 20 pounds just by running 3 to 5 miles twice per week. I had some pictures taken for me by my old roommate. He is himself close to 300 pounds but he was genuinely surprised to see me so "pudgy" is what I think he called me. No, I don't think, I know! I was a little offended but he was right. BTW, I did it without really watching my diet. Walking on days off too helps to expedite the metabolism. Now, I'm going to watch my diet too.

    Best,
    GR
  • I have found exercising really clears my head. I never liked running but I do like aerobics stuff and yoga. Of course, that doesn't get the heart rate up like running but I can see why it's addictive. Running really taxes the body and the cardiovascular system while affording the runner a "blissful" state of mind.

  • I use to read about 15 blogs a day, but because my time is nowlimited, I only can read 1 or 2 now. And this is one of them...Great post!
  • Thanks.....awsome site.
  • Walking is good especially when someone's accompanying you. I used to do a lot of walking. It kept me within in my ideal body weight.

I love eating rice as well. I'm asian so I eat it on every meal. However, when I started gaining, I cut my rice intake to 1 cup a day the most. I had rapid weight loss at about 5 lbs on one week. However, I'm working at a hospital so I got community acquired pneumonia. Well, I forgot to drink my vitamins:)

So don't forget some vitamins too in your diet.
  • Nice Post Health related post . Thanks for sharing and keep posting more new info.

    Thanks again.
  • Great to hear your progress. Inspiring blog.
  • Just wondered how things are going now as this post is a year old. Hope you are keeping up with your exercise.
  • I'm trying a high protein diet. It seems like the only thing that helps me take the weight off.
  • I'm very lazy person that’s why I can’t follow my diet program and my weight is still same.
  • Fresh air and natural light are one of the best things you could do for your health. Good job...keep it up.

healthy diet is all we need... you should know how to get the right nutrients. you should be knowledgeable enough which food contains the nutrients that you need for your body.(www.kika.ca)
  • Exercise is the key and I also like insurance plans that provide incentives for good health behavior.
  • And I think that mainly in the diet of every human being should be fruits and vegetables! A lot of meat to eat, too bad!
  • I would like to update my itouch to 2.1 but when I go to update it, it tells me that if I continue, I would loose everything that I have in it already. All my music, pics, games, movies, paid apps and everything else.
  • You can only do your best, Keep it up!
  • If you have the cash I'd say get a bike, either a real one or a fitness bike to use at home.
