Hundred Day Head Start Diet, fitness, exercise, and weight loss

Update

03.31.2008 · Posted in Personal Updates

Got back on the exercise path this past week. Besides all the walking at work, I also started walking in the evening. I found a nice pond with a 1/2 mile sidewalk circling it on some … ahem… ‘private’ property. There’s an industrial park near my hotel, so it’s pretty empty when I get there in the evening.

Oh well, all they’ll do is tell me to leave. Anything else would mean paperwork for someone. I count on the world’s laziness when making marginal decisions.

I picked up a lot of meat and not much in the way of carbs at the store this week. Probably 80% of the dollars were spent on protein. It remains to be seen if it goes into my body in the same proportion.

I’m moving to an apartment from my extended-stay hotel this week. So, I’ll have a fitness center. Hopefully I can be more consistent and get some kind of exercise on those evenings when the legs are too tired from work to go walking.

  • Best advice is to keep your head up and never in a million years should you give up.

    Your girl Mary :)
  • If you have the cash I'd say get a bike, either a real one or a fitness bike to use at home.
  • You can only do your best, Keep it up!
  • I would like to update my itouch to 2.1 but when I go to update it, it tells me that if I continue, I would loose everything that I have in it already. All my music, pics, games, movies, paid apps and everything else.
  • And I think that mainly in the diet of every human being should be fruits and vegetables! A lot of meat to eat, too bad!
  • Exercise is the key and I also like insurance plans that provide incentives for good health behavior.

healthy diet is all we need... you should know how to get the right nutrients. you should be knowledgeable enough which food contains the nutrients that you need for your body.(www.kika.ca)
  • Fresh air and natural light are one of the best things you could do for your health. Good job...keep it up.
  • I'm very lazy person that’s why I can’t follow my diet program and my weight is still same.
  • I'm trying a high protein diet. It seems like the only thing that helps me take the weight off.
  • Just wondered how things are going now as this post is a year old. Hope you are keeping up with your exercise.
  • Great to hear your progress. Inspiring blog.
  • Nice Post Health related post . Thanks for sharing and keep posting more new info.

    Thanks again.
  • Walking is good especially when someone's accompanying you. I used to do a lot of walking. It kept me within in my ideal body weight.

I love eating rice as well. I'm asian so I eat it on every meal. However, when I started gaining, I cut my rice intake to 1 cup a day the most. I had rapid weight loss at about 5 lbs on one week. However, I'm working at a hospital so I got community acquired pneumonia. Well, I forgot to drink my vitamins:)

So don't forget some vitamins too in your diet.
  • Thanks.....awsome site.
  • I use to read about 15 blogs a day, but because my time is nowlimited, I only can read 1 or 2 now. And this is one of them...Great post!
  • I have found exercising really clears my head. I never liked running but I do like aerobics stuff and yoga. Of course, that doesn't get the heart rate up like running but I can see why it's addictive. Running really taxes the body and the cardiovascular system while affording the runner a "blissful" state of mind.

  • Since June 2008, I've lost 20 pounds just by running 3 to 5 miles twice per week. I had some pictures taken for me by my old roommate. He is himself close to 300 pounds but he was genuinely surprised to see me so "pudgy" is what I think he called me. No, I don't think, I know! I was a little offended but he was right. BTW, I did it without really watching my diet. Walking on days off too helps to expedite the metabolism. Now, I'm going to watch my diet too.

    Best,

  • So, if you're caught on the "private property" you may be able to burn a few more calories as the dogs pursue you, right? :-)

  • I was doing great until our elliptical machine broke a few weeks ago. I'll have to think of something quickly.
  • Hi,

I think that it’s best to just do a 45 minute to one hour routine a day. It works better than spitting them into smallers sessions. Hopefully the workout equipment will help you.
  • My trick is vegetable juicing. It really fills me up the low-calorie way and it satisfies my sweet tooth. If one goes for a weight training program, workout time can be cut to about three 45 minute sessions a week. That really saves time and gives terrific results very quickly.
  • A well balanced diet should do the job. i personally like milk as the protein source of my diet. i dont like soy milk.
